Have you ever stopped to look at a flower growing through the cracks of a sidewalk?
Think about what it had to overcome.
There wasn’t rich soil. There wasn’t anyone watering it. It was surrounded by concrete, stepped on, ignored, and exposed to the heat of the sun. By every measure, it shouldn’t have survived.
Yet…it did.
Survivors of abuse often feel like that flower.
Life has pressed down on you. Words have wounded you. Fear has surrounded you. You may have been told you would never amount to anything or that no one would ever love you. Every hardship became another layer of concrete placed over your heart.
But God has a way of bringing life where others only see damage.
Strength isn’t measured by never being hurt. Strength is choosing to keep growing anyway.
At RADV, we’ve met survivors who have lost everything—homes, relationships, confidence, and even hope. Yet time after time, we’ve also watched them begin again. One small step. One conversation. One prayer. One safe place. One person believing in them.
Eventually, those small steps become a new life.
The flower doesn’t complain about the crack.
It simply reaches for the light.
Maybe today you’re standing in one of the hardest seasons of your life. Maybe the road ahead looks impossible. Don’t let your circumstances convince you that your story is over.
Some of the strongest people you’ll ever meet didn’t grow in perfect conditions.
They grew through the cracks.
Keep reaching toward the light.
Keep believing tomorrow can be better than today.
And when you bloom, you’ll become proof to someone else that healing is possible.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that You bring life even where the world sees only brokenness. Help every survivor who reads this to know they are not forgotten, not abandoned, and not beyond hope. Give them the strength to keep reaching toward Your light, one day at a time. May their healing become a testimony that encourages others to never give up. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Remember: Even in the cracks of a sidewalk, a flower will grow.
So will you.
