ESCAPE

There comes a moment in healing when you look back at everything you survived—and realize you are still standing.

Not untouched.
Not without scars.
Not without days when getting out of bed required every ounce of strength you had.

But standing.

You endured words designed to make you feel worthless. You lived through fear, manipulation, control, betrayal, or violence that tried to convince you that you would never find your way back to yourself.

But you did.

Maybe your healing hasn’t happened as quickly as others expected. Maybe you still have difficult days. Maybe certain memories, voices, places, or sounds can take you back to moments you would rather forget.

None of that erases how far you have come.

Strength does not mean the abuse never affected you. It means that despite what was done to you, you kept finding reasons to take one more step.

You asked for help.

You set a boundary.

You walked away—or began quietly preparing for the day you could.

You protected your children.

You started trusting your own voice again.

You survived nights when you didn’t know how you would face the morning.

Those victories may seem small to someone who has never lived through abuse. But survivors understand how much courage they require.

You are allowed to be proud of yourself.

Proud that you kept breathing when life felt unbearable. Proud that you began rebuilding what someone else tried to tear down. Proud that you refused to let another person’s cruelty become the final definition of your life.

Being proud does not mean you are pretending the pain never happened. It means you are finally giving yourself credit for what it took to survive it.

So stand where you are today—even if your legs still shake.

Look back at the road behind you—not to return to it, but to recognize the strength it took to travel it.

You are still here.

You are still becoming.

And survivor, you should be incredibly proud of the way you stood.

Your best miles are ahead.
