“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” — Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
If you’ve lived through abuse, worrying about tomorrow can become second nature.
“What if they find me?”
“What if I can’t make it on my own?”
“What if the court doesn’t believe me?”
“What if I never heal?”
Those questions are real. They aren’t signs of weakness—they’re signs that you’ve been forced to survive.
But there comes a point in healing where we have to remember something Jesus taught us thousands of years ago.
Tomorrow isn’t ours to carry yet.
Today has enough work to do.
Healing doesn’t happen all at once.
Safety doesn’t happen all at once.
Peace doesn’t happen all at once.
It happens one decision, one breath, one prayer, and one day at a time.
Maybe today your victory is simply getting out of bed.
Maybe today it’s making one phone call.
Maybe today it’s telling one trusted friend the truth.
Maybe today it’s deciding that you deserve better.
Those may seem like small victories, but they are the very steps that change lives.
Abuse tries to convince you that your future is already written.
God reminds us that today is where hope begins.
Don’t let fear steal today by making you live in tomorrow.
Take care of today.
Trust God with tomorrow.
At RADV, we’ve walked beside survivors long enough to know that healing isn’t measured in giant leaps. It’s measured in faithful steps.
One day becomes another.
One choice becomes another.
One act of courage becomes a new life.
If today is difficult, remember this:
You don’t have to survive your whole future today.
You only have to take the next step.
And tomorrow, when it comes, God will still be there.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” — Matthew 6:34
Your best miles are still ahead.
