There are people who will try to convince you that the damage they caused has permanently destroyed your future.
They may have taken away your confidence. They may have isolated you from the people who loved you, controlled your choices or forced you to live every day wondering what would happen next. They may have cost you time, opportunities, friendships, money and pieces of yourself that you are still trying to recover.
What happened to you may have slowed you down.
But it did not stop you.
You are still here.
You may be moving differently now. You may take smaller steps because you have learned to be cautious. You may need time to rebuild your confidence, learn how to trust again or remember who you were before someone tried to control your life.
That does not mean you are weak. It means you are healing.
Survival is not always a dramatic escape followed by an immediate new beginning. Sometimes survival is quietly making a plan. It is saving a few dollars, gathering important documents, talking to someone you trust or finally admitting that what is happening is not acceptable.
Sometimes survival is simply getting through today.
Every step counts.
The person who hurt you may have tried to write the ending of your story. They may have wanted you to believe that you could not make it without them. They may have told you that no one else would love you, believe you or help you.
Those were not truths. They were tools of control.
Your life still belongs to you.
There may be setbacks along the way. Some days you may feel strong and determined. Other days you may feel afraid, exhausted or uncertain. Healing does not move in a straight line, and needing help does not erase the progress you have already made.
A motorcycle climbing a steep mountain may lose speed, but it is still moving forward. The engine is still running. The rider is still holding on, and the road has not ended.
Neither has yours.
You do not have to prove your strength by confronting the person who harmed you or placing yourself in danger. Your safety matters more than winning an argument. Sometimes the strongest statement you can make is quietly choosing yourself, following a safe plan and continuing toward a life they can no longer control.
The road ahead may take longer than you hoped, but it is still yours to travel.
Your dreams are still waiting.
Your voice still matters.
Your purpose has not disappeared.
God is not finished with your story.
So, to the person or circumstances that tried to break you, your answer does not have to be filled with anger or revenge. Let your healing speak for you. Let your peace speak for you. Let the life you rebuild become your answer:
You might have slowed me down, but you’re never going to stop me.
Keep moving—even if today’s step is a small one.
