The Mission That Started It All

Every organization has a beginning.
This was ours.
When I wrote this mission statement in 2016, RADV wasn’t a national resource. There wasn’t a library of articles, a rebuilt website, or years of survivor stories. There was simply a belief that domestic violence deserved more voices willing to stand up and say, “Enough.”
Our original mission spoke about building community, supporting local shelters, raising awareness, and helping break the cycle of abuse.
Looking back today, I’m proud to say that while RADV has grown, our purpose hasn’t changed.
We’ve added new programs, new partnerships, and new ways to reach survivors. We’ve learned. We’ve adapted. We’ve rebuilt.
But the reason we started is the same reason we continue.
To be a voice for those who feel unheard.
To help survivors find hope.
To remind every person living behind closed doors that they are not alone.
This isn’t just a look back at where RADV began.
It’s a reminder that every bridge starts with a single step.
Thank you to everyone who has helped carry this mission forward over the years. The road has been long, but we’re still riding.
The mission continues.
