ESCAPE

There are days when you may not feel strong.

You may feel tired from watching every word, measuring every reaction, and trying to keep the peace. You may look in the mirror and see someone worn down by fear, stress, or disappointment.

But RADV wants you to see something else today:

The warrior you are.

A Warrior Is Not Someone Who Never Hurts

A warrior is not someone who walks through life without fear or pain. A warrior is someone who keeps going while carrying things others may never see.

Every time you made it through another difficult night, you showed courage.

Every time you protected your children, reached out for help, quietly made a safety plan, or reminded yourself that the abuse was not your fault, you took back another piece of your strength.

Even when all you could do was survive one more day, you were still fighting for your life and your future.

That is not weakness. That is the heart of a warrior.

Your Scars Do Not Diminish You

The things you endured may have changed you. They may have left wounds no one else can see. You might struggle with trust, second-guess your decisions, or wonder whether you will ever feel like yourself again.

Healing does not require you to pretend those wounds never happened. It means learning that what happened to you does not get to decide who you will become.

Your scars are not evidence that you were defeated. They are evidence that you survived something that tried to break you.

You are still here.

Strength Can Look Quiet

Sometimes courage roars like a motorcycle coming to life. Other times, it sounds like a whisper:

I deserve better.

I am going to tell someone.

I will take one step toward safety today.

I will not give up on myself.

You do not have to make every decision today. You do not have to cross the entire bridge at once. One safe step matters. One phone call matters. One honest conversation matters.

The warrior in you is not measured by how quickly you leave, how perfectly you heal, or whether you ever feel afraid. Your strength is found in choosing—one mile at a time—to believe that your life still holds value and possibility.

God Has Not Forgotten You

Abuse may have made you feel unseen, but you have never been invisible to God.

He sees the tears you hide. He knows the battles you have fought in silence. He has not abandoned you in the darkest part of your story.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18

You may not see the whole way forward yet. That is okay. Faith does not always mean seeing the entire road. Sometimes it means trusting God enough to take the next safe step.

Stand Up for the Warrior Within

Today, speak to yourself with the same compassion you would offer another survivor.

You are not foolish because someone deceived you. You are not weak because someone controlled or hurt you. You are not damaged beyond healing.

You are a survivor.

You are worthy of safety, dignity, peace, and love that does not hurt.

You are stronger than the voice that told you that you could never make it without them. You are braver than you feel in this moment. And somewhere beneath the exhaustion and fear, the warrior you are is still standing.

Take a breath. Lift your head. Reach for a safe hand when you need one.

You survived. You matter. You made it this far. Keep going—one mile at a time. Your best miles are ahead.
